2012 $20 Rhododendron – Pure Silver Coin

This 2012 $20 coin is the third in the Royal Canadian Mint’s beautiful painted wildflower series, showcasing a stunning full-colour image by talented Canadian artist Claudio D’Angelo of three delicate Pacific Rhododendron blooms.

This coin is considered one of the most striking and beautiful pieces in the wildflower series, making it a perfect addition for collectors and investors alike.

The Design:
The reverse image highlights a perfect specimen of the Pacific Rhododendron. The fine gradations in its petals’ coloring—from soft candyfloss pink to robust raspberry—are rendered with meticulous care. Its curling stamen, with yellow anthers poised atop slender pink filaments, burst from the flower’s center. Soft yellow markings dot the uppermost petal, accompanied by another open blossom turning its face in a three-quarter view. The graceful back of a third flower is also visible, beautifully positioned atop four glossy green leaves. To enhance this artwork, three sparkling Swarovski “dew drops” are nestled among the delicate petals and leaves.
